PÁKOZD-SUKORÓ

The bronze statue of the Pákozd hussar Miska stands proudly on the hilltop. This is a special monument that pays tribute to Hungarian history and hussar traditions. The huge, 13-meter-high, 120-ton statue commemorates the heroes of the 1848-49 War of Independence. From here, there is a wonderful view of the surrounding area. The statue is special because it is the largest hussar statue in the world, which has deservedly become one of the prides of the local community. It is a popular place for family outings, as the children want to see the fairy-tale figures of the lead soldiers and hussars at all costs. It is also worth taking time to explore the area, as the Pákozd Battle Memorial Park and the Military Memorial Park are also nearby. It can be a great family program, as children can also enjoy the sight of the huge statue and the beauty of the surrounding nature. The historical significance of the monument and the surrounding area provides an opportunity to learn more about Hungary’s past. The easiest way to get here is by car, but it can also be a great tour by bike. The bike path is about 30 minutes from our private apartments, almost all the way along the shores of Lake Velence, offering fantastic natural experiences until you reach your destination!
